Gus Tats!

Today’s affirmation card.

I do like this one but, I found the irony funny once I read my weekly quote that is in my daily planner. That quote is:

“Lazy is such an ugy word. I prefer to call it selection participation.” LOL

Anyway, I’ve been multitasking so much today (or attempting to at least) I feel like I have 20 different pokers in the fire. UGH, I hate that feeling. I may keep things extra short today.

It MAY have something to do with the Halloween candy I’ve been snacking on all day so far….. Yes,,, My addiction to chocolate is kicking my ass today folks.

This Halloween was pretty much Non-Existent here. Which REALLY bummed me out. Not a single trick-or-treater, which I understand living in the country you normally don’t get many to begin with. Still. 😦

Last year I even advertised on Facebook and to my kid’s school friends that I buy full size candy bars to hand out! None of that tiny bite sized crap, I don’t mess around! LOL That worked, but this year just got away from me. So, we have more than enough candy bars for a while! Well,,,,,,,, I’ll see how much stress snacking I do. LOL

My Halloween was not a total bust though. I spend my evening at Gus Tat’s in Green Bay. Getting my gift from Paul started. He has gifted me a tattoo, for Birthday, Anniversary, Christmas, and probably every holiday for the next year. LOL Darn!

For the last year or so I’ve been really wanting to do something that signifies what I’ve endured and gone through. 8+ concussions, Dealing with PCS, TBI, suicidal depression, everything. Once you have a TBI you literally are no longer the same person you were before the shit hit the fan.

I had asked once in my Post Concussion Support group what others have done to “celebrate” their new lives, new norms, etc. One woman said she had legally changed her entire name!

That seems a tad extreme to me, I like my name. For others though, I can see why some would consider doing this. After meeting so many people whose own family disowns them simply because they don’t believe in what they are going through. They think their own family member is just ‘making up’ all that they’ve been suffering through. (Some people are just idiots, sorry, not sorry.)

So yeah, I guess if my family treated me like that, I wouldn’t want to be associated with them at all either. So own that new name! Be proud of what you’ve accomplished without their help and support!

As for me, I decided I’ve been reborn, yet I’m still me in my heart. Like a Phoenix I’ve suffered and still endured. So that’s my tattoo, A phoenix and a brain with a tally of how many concussions I’ve experienced. Gus said he’ll be able to add more tallies to it IF I do get any more concussions but let’s hope that never happens!

I was pretty nervous, not knowing how I would handle the pain of a tattoo at all after all of this. I did have one tattoo on my 18th birthday, MANY years ago. I always thought that one felt like getting zapped by the electric cattle fence over and over. That was a small one!

This Phoenix though, it is rather large, covering much of my back.

Turns out, it’s not that bad at all! Either Gus is just that good, or my pain tolerance has gone up. LOL (I’m going to give Gus the credit he deserves.) It felt like a hard back scratch. LOL That was when he was working on shading. It was starting to get late and since I turn into a pumpkin early on, he switched to doing the outlines. Those did sting a tad once in a while when he was close to the spine, but still, not bad!

There were two times where I caught myself starting to doze off. I could’ve easily taken a nap but the last thing I need is for Gus to be poking fun if he happens to hear me snore! LOL

I was kind of proud of myself. I think it’s only about 1/2 way done though, not even…. When it is ALL done, I’ll share a photo. Gus does awesome work! So, I’ll be happy to show it off! 🙂

You can follow him on Facebook, just look up GUS TATS. 😊

Today I’m also going to share our view here from this morning. The sky was just too beautiful not to share. (Though the photo does NOT do it justice.) I love a good sunrise/sunset. Some of them just stop me in my tracks and I can’t help but stare and admire the beauty of it. 💕

What is something that always seems to grab your attention and put you at awe?

Take care!

*Hugs*

Come spill the tea with me!
