About me

I was born and raised on my parents small dairy farm not far from Green Bay Wisconsin. Pure tom-boy. I was also diagnosed with migraines at only 4 years of age, they’re hereditary on my fathers side. I do remember a few times as a kid, my head would hurt so bad I would beg my mom to crack my head open with an ax just to relieve the pressure. I HATED missing school because of a migraine.

I started hunting at 14 years old. (More like, being the free help to drive out the brush patches to the guys until I got older. lol) Learning a LOT from my dad’s cousins, the Vandonsel boys! HA! Some of my favorite memories! I did develop a mouth though and tend to “swear like a sailor” I’m told. So if you notice I let my tongue go rouge here or there, just ignore it. (That’s what my mother does. LOL) I’m not about to change who I am to satisfy anyone. πŸ˜‰

Grew up, met my husband and we now live with our family of 2 kids, 3 dogs, more than enough chickens, ducks and cats, all only 4 miles from the farm where we also have some of our own cattle in with my Dad’s beef cattle herd. (He sold the dairy herd in 2018) We help on the farm every week, plus hay season and whenever else they call for help. It’s the perfect trade for our own homegrown healthy beef.

Over the years I collected too many concussions, probably the most popular one was from being kicked in the face by a cow at 18 years old. The life changing concussion happened November 9th, 2020. Around 2 weeks later I ended up having a minor stroke that my husband and I just assumed was a very bad migraine. Ever since, I’ve been dealing with Post Concussion Syndrome & Traumatic Brain Injury and all the lovely symptoms that can come with.

I love to garden, and grow most of our veggies. I’m proud of the fact that we haven’t needed to buy Salsa, Pasta sauce, tomato sauce, green beans, etc in over 10 years. I also grow many of my own herbs and medicinal plants and dry them for my many teas and tinctures.

I also love to paint. (or at least I used to, I shake a lot more now and because of that I don’t paint often anymore) I will try my hand at it once in a while just to see how I do. πŸ™‚

I like to make attempts at being crafty. I love to build things, and feel I can do a somewhat decent job at it. I will admit though, I have had a few “close calls” with the table saw, and the skill saw, and that one thing I don’t know what it’s called but it can spit a board out pretty damn fast if you’re not paying attention! Oops! LOL Being married to a guy who built houses for 20 years though, when he sees what I’m working on he’ll just shake his head in embarrassment. HA! The poor guy! Usually he ends up fixing and finishing what I start.

I have an odd addiction to books and plants, which my husband will say I have WAY too many of both. I am STILL working on getting him to build me my own little library and a greenhouse! One day! *fingers crossed* πŸ˜€

I love hand writing letters, researching, and learning new things. (These are all great for the brain and I’m ALL about trying to get my brain healthy again.) I’ve had a penpal in Germany for over 10 years now and one day I’ll go visit her. I also have several new penpals. I LOVE writing letters almost as much as I love finding them in my own mailbox.

I’ve been making my own homemade lip balms, lotions, shampoo and soap bars, essential oils blends, etc. and like to share them with everyone. Which means what I have available I will have listed on my Shop page for purchase, but because everything is handmade by me alone, supplies are limited. So please be patient with me, it is well worth it!

At one point my Dr. reccommended I start to journal as a form of therapy. Once I started, I thought that I really should write my life in a book form for my kids, before I forget it all. (My short term memory loss has gotten worse over the past few years after my concussion. Seriously, my kids tease and call me “Ten second Tom” LOL) So, I wrote a book! My daughter liked it enough that she convinced me to publish it through Amazon KDP, and I did! I also have a link to that for those interested. I’m told it’s a great read, fast, funny, and sad. It’s raw and it’s real. It’s me.

I can be funny when I want to be, I’m always honest, and I do LOVE to help people whenever I can. I dispise fake people, asskissers, drama and those who thrive to create it. I tell it like I see it, but I’ve been practicing “If you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all”. Still practicing. LOL

I’m also told I have a pretty serious RBF. (I’m not totally sure on that….)

Anyway, that’s me in a nutshell. Take it or leave it.
