How’s your liver doin’?

Happy Hump Day! My wonky head from the last few days is finally starting to settle down, but I’m still looking forward to an early bedtime tonight. Whew!

MAYBE I’ll be able to watch a little of the World Series!!! Go Milwaukee Brewers! 😁💕

It really would be so cool to be able to see the whole game. I haven’t gotten to watch a whole game through yet. Ugh.

First off,,, today’s affirmation card. 🙂

Today I want to talk about Liver health. How healthy is your liver?

Mine was not doing so well after all the different medications I was put on because of my PCS and constant migraines.

I’ve tried several different migraine medications in the last six years.

My Neurologist ended up finally talking me into trying Botox to help prevent migraines.

Now, I know darn well there are a LOT of women (Some men too maybe) out there thinking, ‘Damn! Botox covered by insurance why wouldn’t you!’

I’m NOT that kind of a person. Injecting a crazy chemical into my face to literally paralyze my muscles, all in the name of less wrinkles and looking younger. NOPE. I’m just happy to be alive, I’ll gladly wear my wrinkles and grey hair.

I WILL BE THANKFUL FOR THEM!

Thankful that I have lived long enough to even accomplish grey hair and wrinkles.

A wise friend once told me that she stopped coloring her own hair after a cancer survivor explained how she was just so happy to be able to live long enough to get grey hair, when so many people never get the chance. So, like my friend, I will wear my grey hair with pride and thankfulness. ❤

Back to my main point……

Unfortunately, the constant pain of migraines as often as I was getting them just wore me down to a point of desperation.

I will say the Botox worked. For only about four months.

In the meantime, my kids had fun teasing me for my total lack of facial expressions. Gah!! LOL I honestly don’t know why people would pay for this!?

After I met back with my Neurologist and explained I wanted to quit the Botox since it was no longer working, instead she convinced me to go on Qulipta WITH the Botox. She said the two together work great. ……. Fine. I’ll try it.

Literally as soon as I agreed to starting it, they set up a bloodwork appointment for me. When I asked what that was for, they just said that it’s pretty common that Qulipta can cause liver damage if it’s taken for long periods of time. So, I HAVE to have my liver checked every three months.

Really. 😒 That should have been my sign to just say no. Dumb ass Sue.

No shit, after being on for only three months and my first blood check and my liver counts were elevated, too high! That was enough for me! (I didn’t notice a huge improvement with my migraines because of them anyway.) Which is also the same time I started taking my Super Greens daily and those made it possible for me to quit both the Botox and Qulipta without my migraines getting worse again. (Those were subject of a previous post. LOL)

Now I had the issue of repairing my liver and getting those blood counts back down to a healthy range.

After doing some research I added Milk Thistle to my daily supplement routine.

Milk Thistle is a great natural Liver-supporter primarily due to the silymarin compounds it contains. Which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It IS a healthy additive to a routine, and it did help lower my bloodwork some, but it just wasn’t enough to get my liver back to normal.

Along the way I’ve also tried a few different “Liver Detoxes”. Each thing I tried was always natural, and I would notice a small decrease in my liver counts, but not enough.

When I started seeing my NUCCA Dr. at Atlas Spinal Care, I had mentioned this all to him. He then told me about Ancestral Supplements, primarily beef organ supplements, and the great liver support they offer. It helps support your liver organ so it can better repair itself.

**(Like any supplement, it is NOT a “cure all” and individuals should consult their own Doctor before trying something new in case it may interact with any medications they may be on. So do you own homework! LOL)

He does sell some of them in office but was out at the moment. Though he was nice enough to let me know it’s the same price on Amazon. He suggested only taking two capsules with each meal for the first couple weeks then going down to one capsule with each meal until the bottle is gone. Most people he knows who takes this supplement only use one bottle once a year. That’s it.

So, I ordered myself a bottle. It’s not too expensive. I think mine was about $40 at the time I ordered it and that’s for 180 capsules.

I recently had my bloodwork checked so I was keeping a close eye on my liver count. I started the Beef organ supplement as often as he suggested. (The bottle suggests three capsules three times a day, but I did the ‘2 caps 3 times a day for two weeks then just 1 cap 3 times a day until gone.) I finished the bottle out and about one month later had my bloodwork checked again, and finally after well over a year, my liver count is back to normal! YAY!

I still take my once daily Milk Thistle, and I’ll use one bottle of the Ancestral Supplements once a year. Unless my counts go back up, then I’ll redo it sooner. Though, unless I go back on a prescription I can’t see why they would go back up again.

I’m just SO happy to have finally fixed my liver!

I’m including the link to the Ancestral Supplements Amazon store for anyone interested. https://link.amazon/B00izOiMW

I hope someone out there finds this helpful. If anything, you learned something new maybe. LOL

I hope everyone has a great day. The sunshine is just beautiful here today.

*Hugs*

Come spill the tea with me!
