Take care of your skin

Today’s Affirmation Card is a good one. 😉

“You are worthy of everything good in this life. Everything.”

Though, some people might take this the wrong way. You ARE worthy of everything good in this life. You just need to be willing to put the hard work in for it at times.

Some people have been raised to believe that everything will just be handed to them. They think throwing an toddler temper tantrum will make their point and get them what they want.

It’s very sad to see this happening more and more these days. Where have parents gone wrong in teaching their kids the value of a strong work ethic, morals, and integrity????

Here’s a tiny tip. Start young! If you toddler is throwing a fit because you said “No.” to something they wanted. Or if they are just expecting you to give them the treat or buy them the toy in the story for no apparent reason. Use this perfect opportunity to teach them that, NO, they DON’T get what they want whenever they want it. If they start throwing a fit about it, then they DEFINITELY don’t get it! Say NO and STICK TO YOUR GUNS!

If your toddler is being bucky in the morning and you need them to get moving faster so you’re not late for work. NEVER let them get that piece of candy for a breakfast! NEVER let them have whatever it is they’re crying for JUST so you can get them out the door. By doing this just once, they now have learned that they can resort to this negative behavior any time to get the results they want.

You are the parent. The only way to teach them better is by saying NO and meaning NO. If they’re throwing a fit. Yeah, it sucks to have to drive listening to them screaming, but you just have to do it. You pick that tantrum throwing toddler up, simply tell them, NO, and strap them in their car seat and go. Ignore the tantrum. (I know that’s hard, I’ve raised two kids myself, I’ve been there.)

That’s the trick though.

As soon as they realize they are not going to get the result they want by acting that way, they will learn to change that negative behavior into a better one.

Now, this does NOT mean if they ask nice for candy for breakfast before you leave for work, that you give it to them. You still say NO, that is not a healthy breakfast and just reinforce to them that it’s not even an option in the morning.

They might throw a tantrum again, and again, you do the same exact thing. Don’t give them any option, just pick them up and go.

It won’t happen overnight. The longer you let them walk all over you, the longer it will take for you to correct this spoiled behavior.

Trust me, in the long run, they will grow up into better adults because of this.

The teachers who will need to deal with them one day will thank you.

The babysitters who have to deal with the sugar crashes and tantrums will thank you.

Society will one day thank you.

When your kids are adults with kids and seeing other peoples kids acting out… THEY will thank you. 🙂

I myself have already called my parents a few times to show my appreciation for never letting me get away with that shit as a kid. I have also called them to apologize for some of the stupid shit I did do as a kid, because having my own kids, there is NO way I’d let them do half of the stuff I snuck around and did on that farm. LOL oops!

So yeah, please don’t spoil your kids too much. Some spoiling is great, spoil them with quality time spent together. Take them for walks in the woods to explore, play games with them, teach them things about the world around them. They don’t need store bought junk to be spoiled, that’s the wrong kind.

Next up!

My homemade recipe of; Tea Leaf & Tallows – Whipped Beef Tallow & Honey Lotion!

This lotion is the perfect remedy for super dry, cracked, moisture deprived skin. A little bit goes a long way! Once you rub it onto your hands it feels light and smooth. After a bit it absorbs in completely leaving no greasy messy feeling after.

I really do love this lotion.

Plus, I got pretty sick to thinking I’m buying a good lotion from the store then looking into the ingredients and finding things in there that;

1. Does not NEED to be in there. Alcohol will just dry your skin out even more! (Repeat business is their angle here)

2. Is not particularly even good for our bodies so why would we rub it into our skin!?

3. I can’t even pronounce some of those words! LOL

Now, a fact about Natural Beef Tallow. Tallow is what is rendered down from the fat. After a VERY long time of melting, it down on a very low heat, separating the good tallow from the “cracklings” of what’s left. (Which I found this out for myself making my 1st batch. LOL Another reason I’m thankful my family raises beef! Local beef, local tallow!)

Once this tallow cools it is a hard block. The process off adding the other ingredients, then whipping it for an extended period of time gives it the softer, more manageable lotion feel.

The longer the lotion sits, it will still firm up some over time. It is still perfectly good to use. Just a natural process.

Sitting out this lotion has a shelf life of 6 months to 1 year.

If you want it to last longer than a year you would want to store it in the fridge. Which will also firm it up more.

Though to be honest, with regular use I highly doubt there would still be any left after a year. LOL

Also, I wouldn’t recommend using this on faces with oily skin, or prone to breakouts. Tallow can possibly clog the facial pores causing more breakouts.

For very dry and older skin it would be more helpful, but like anything new. Test it on a small spot first to see how you react.

My favorite way to use this lotion is on my hands, elbows, knees and feet. 🙂

Soon available for purchase on Tea Leaf & Tallow Etsy store.

I hope you like it as much as we do. I’ve been getting great reviews on it so far!

I also make a plain Whipped Beef Tallow that doesn’t contain ANY essential oils or anything other than Extra Virgin Olive Oil in order to keep it soft enough to whip up and an extra moisturizer. This works great for those with extra skin sensitivities.

Now, head outside and enjoy the sunshine, take a walk, breath in some fresh air.

Take care of youself, you are worth it!

*Hugs*

Come spill the tea with me!
