Lovin’ the Fall colors!

Hello again world.

I know the internet says that around here the fall colors will peak the 4th week of October, but I think it’s going to be sooner near me. It is looking so beautiful outside!

If it wasn’t for all the extra work that fall brings getting ready for winter, this would be my favorite time of year. I still love it!

So yesterday I promised I’d share how I managed to get myself off of the daily migraine preventative medication called. Nortriptyline.

After years of being dependent on this medication, this drug that caused me to get Raynauds syndrome (A common side effect). Raynauds syndrome causes my fingers and toes to get very cold, sometimes they go numb or have tingling. I first noticed this when someone once pointed out that my fingers looked blue. They were blue!

It became my mission to get off of this drug.

For years I took a Magnesium supplement as a helpful migraine preventative also. I did a lot of research, asked a lot of questions, and tried a lot of different natural things in my search of what would work for me.

One person I can’t thank enough is Chris. The genius pharmacist at the Luxemburg Pharmacy near me. I picked her brain often whenever I was in there buying refills. She gave me some great tips; she was the one who suggested I check my Nitric Oxide level (Which was totally depleted!) and then got on a supplement to help with that.

Then one day at the pharmacy Eric was helping me and he mentioned that Ortho Molecular Products came out with a new form of Magnesium that the brain absorbs better than any other form. Magnesium Threonate. He said a few of their customers with migraines have had very good results after switching to this.

I checked out the bottle, noticing the price difference, and said I’d look into it some more, thanks. 🙂

It was more expensive, but Paul and I both agreed that if it worked as good as the pharmacist says it does, it would be worth it just so I can stop the Nortriptyline.

So, I started it. Two capsules every night with my supper. After a couple months I started to wean myself off of the Nortriptyline. This must be done very slowly.

After about 3 or 4 months I was fully off of the Nortriptyline and no worse for the wear! I’m never looking back!

I am now officially off of all daily prescription drugs. (I still do have my prescriptions I use in case I get knocked down by a massive migraine, but I don’t use those nearly as often anymore either with my new Migraine Tincture I make!)

What I also like so much is that this company, Ortho Molecular Products, is located in Stevens Point Wisconsin. I LOVE buying my things USA made but home state made is even better. That and the pharmacy gives a 10% discount for buying local items as well. Bonus!

I buy this local but here is a link to the companies website;

I figure, if it helped me and others around here, it has to help a lot of you who might suffer from migraines also. Of course, do your own research when you can to find what’s best for you.

That’s all I have for today. I have a box FULL of onions from my garden I need to put on their ropes for winter storage now.

You take care of yourself!
