Monday mondayyyy, da da da dadada

There, now you have that stuck in your head too. Sorry, couldn’t help myself. LOL

Oh,,, for an update, I DID end up getting a small nap in yesterday! Though it took a while. Someone pulled in the driveway causing the dogs to go nuts so obviously I was stuck awake until they stop throwing their tantrums.

Finally started to drift off for a nice nap, and 10 minutes later, Paul returned from the woods. Barking dogs all over again! I decided to give up and get some work done instead. grrrrrrr

Paul took one look at my cranky face and insisted I go lay back down and he’d keep the dogs quiet since he was home. So, I asked him to wake me up after 1 hour so I can get to work, to which he agreed, and I went to nap. Finally! 😀

I woke up later. Paul never woke me up! I went downstairs and called him a liar. To which, he just said I needed the extra time. LOL He knows me too well.

Are there any husbands out there who ARE brave enough to wake their wife up from a nap??

Today is a cool fall day. The beautiful fall colors are starting to pop and the black walnuts are falling. grrrrr. I despise the year of the black walnuts!

We have two large black walnut trees on the west side of our house. They drop walnuts, not every year thank God, but every other year. This is that year. Last time we filled around 4 fifty-five gallon barrels FULL of walnuts!

They cover the driveway and make a very loud “Popping” sound when you drive over them. They hit the roof and roll down scaring the bejeezus out of me almost every time. (Even though you’d think by now I’d be used to it.)

Yes, we trim the branches away from the house when we manage to procure a lift, but they grow back. They grow fast.

The falling nuts hit vehicles if you’re parked underneath them.

The dogs, for some crazy reason, love to eat them. Then throw it up in the house later, because black walnut hulls, leaves, etc., are poisonous. But you can’t tell a dog that. UGH!

You have to be very careful what you plant near these trees because the juglone they produce in the soil will kill many other plants. Plants that I love.

Last Friday we spent over an hour cleaning up the driveway and yard, making three large piles of walnuts to haul away. Today,,,, the driveway is just as covered as it was before, along with the yard, plus the three large piles!

These trees are my nemisis!

Yes, despite them being beautiful trees that provide great shade, I would much rather they be a beautiful dining room table for me instead. I wish we would cut them down. Paul refuses. GAH!!!

Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE TREES! I’m an outdoors gal. I love walking through the woods, the fall colors, the wildlife that live in the forests. I would plant a LOT more trees here if Paul would let me. I don’t need hate mail over two trees.

It’s just these two particular trees, in this particular spot.

Like when people ask me how I could grow up on a farm, naming animals and taking such good care of them, only to send them to the butcher when the animal is older.

I always answer that the same way as these trees. When you clean up after them for long enough you learn. LOL

I LOVED getting two piglets every spring to raise. I’d name them, spoil them, braid twine into little harnesses to try and walk them. I’d also be cleaning their pen out. Shoveling pig shit for months and months, after a while, a pork chop and bacon sounds REALLY tasty. LOL!

Get kicked in the face by a cow once and you’ll enjoy that next hamburger you eat even more. (Don’t hate me for it, that’s how I was raised! LOL)

Pick up friggin’ walnuts only to have to redo it all again day after day until the seasons done, and a beautiful Walnut wood table to eat that hamburger at sounds perfect!

I would gladly replace them, with some beautiful red maples, or some other, ANY other NON-nut producing trees. 😀

For now, I’ll just try to be more thankful to even have a yard that is large enough to have trees in it at all. Tis the season of thankfulness after all, correct?

As Thanksgiving rushes up on us, I like to take time to think about all that I have to be thankful for, and there’s a lot.

But first. My favorite. HALLOWEEN.

Any good costumes ideas??

Muahahahahahahaha
